Christmas Classics Celebrated through Dance

This past weekend Kaylee had her 1st Ballet Recital at her new dance studio. It was a CRAZY weekend, but a lot of fun. The theme for the recital was Christmas Classics. Throughout the recital, they showed clips from different Christmas movies like "Miracle on 34th Street," "The Grinch," "Polar Express," "Scrooge," and "Charlie Brown's Christmas." A dance or 2 followed each movie clip. It was wonderful...kept Taylor, Nicole, and Warren very entertained. Kaylee danced to "Angels we Have Heard on High" and it was great.

This is an awful picture, but here are the beautiful Angels. Kaylee loved her huge tutu.

After the show, I got some pictures of Kaylee doing some ballet poses. Kaylee is ALWAYS ready to take a SILLY picture.

This is how they ended the show (look at her beautiful fingers)- Kaylee's favorite thing was watching the older girls on pointe and the older girls doing jazz numbers.

I told Kaylee to "strike a pose" and this is what she came up with. She is so FUNNY !

It was so fun to watch Kaylee enjoy music and dance. She definitely has a sense of rhythm and musicality. Let's cross our fingers that she continues to enjoy this...

One more sheep in our Nativity

My mom gave me some German stuffed animals (I can't remember what they are called) this week and my girls love them. I remember playing with them when I was young. My sister and I would add Ken and Barbie as our Mary and Joseph to our lovely manager scene. I LOVED these unique looking animals. Well, my girls love them just as much as I did, especially Taylor.

Yesterday, Taylor decided to add another animal to our Stuffed Animal Nativity. That other rather unusual animal with the BIG eyes is another sheep. Taylor informed me that her Koala is dressed up as a sheep because she WANTS to be a sheep. She said, "People dress up as sheep, so Koala wants to be a sheep."

I think she adds a special something to our lovely scene....especially the pink tutu.

Christmas Happenings

This past weekend the girls had a little Christmas gathering and decorated some Christmas things. It is always interesting to figure out what we are going to make for our decorations each Christmas. This year Nicole wanted to make a felt something (because we had one on our Christmas tree made years ago by my Grandmother) and Kaylee wanted to do a picture frame. Anyways...this is what we came up with.

Here is our experiment with Modge Podge on cardboard. It didn't work out too well.

Here is Nicole's bell that she desperately wanted to paint sparkly colors. The blue was a really pretty colors.

The girls had fun this year, but I realized something. Kaylee's friends will be almost 10 or already 10 next Christmas. We will have to adjust our little gathering accordingly. Taylor will be old enough to invite friends - so this is what I think, Nicole and Taylor will do something together upstairs and Kaylee will go downstairs with her friends in our finished basement (because it will be finished next Christmas - YAY!!) Kaylee will hold her own Christmas party? What do you think...

"Why we are Thankful for Kaylee"

Yesterday Kaylee came home with a sheet of paper titled "Why we are Thankful for Kaylee." I guess a couple of weeks ago Kaylee's class sat down and wrote down things they liked about each other. The teacher than typed it up and gave it to each of the children in the class.
WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!

Here is what they said about my Kaylee -
1. Kaylee reads really fast. She is the most funniest.

2. She has braces and she is Sean's best friend and they play with erasers. (Kaylee sits by a boy named Sean and they have put faces on all of their erasers. They play with their people erasers ALL THE TIME)

3. Kaylee is a good friend and very sweet.

4. She never talks out and she is smart.

5. You are funny and you are smart.

6. She is nice, funny, and loving.

7. Kaylee loves to read and she also likes math.

8. She is a friend of mine and I like her braces.

9. Kaylee is always neat and is great at gymnastics.

10. She is nice, funny and a great runner.

11. Kaylee is respectful and kind.

12. She is really really really crazy and funny.

13. She is nice and she tries her best.

14. Kaylee is very respectful and she laughs a lot.

15. She is so so funny and she is really creative too.

18. Kaylee is very helpful and kind.

19. She is my friend and a great sport.

20. Kaylee is cheerful and active.

21. (Her teacher) Kaylee is an incredible young lady. She is funny, very smart, very helpful to all, and a great example of how to be a good friend. She is always willing to help out in any way she can. She thinks about things and talks about her thoughts. She is a really good person and a really good student.

22. (The Class tutor) Kaylee is such a great friend to others. She is responsible, respectful, and so helpful to everyone. I love that she sits by my desk because I love to make her laugh. She is so funny and she has a wonderful sense of humor. She also reminds me of a Perisian model!!

Nothing can make a Mommy happier than hearing GOOD things about their child.
